Ismaël Rodriguez

Musical achievement

 

Ismaël starts playing drums at the age of 12. He takes lessons with Gérald Cattet at Dijon, France, the with Bernard Tappaz at Annecy, France. Afterwards he goes regularly to Lyon, France, to perfect his skills in the school of Maurice Sonjon, experienced drummer and pedagogue. Finally he studies in Geneva, Switzerland, with Alain Rieder, renown pedagogue in the drum field.

In 1989 he meets guitar player Christophe Nemoz-Rajot with whom he performs in the street orchestra " La Ripaille à Sons ", playing jazz and latin standards. While in Austria they start collaborating with french singer Patricia Campana in France and in Austria. Together they create a show, using Patricia's original French songs, within the " Tremplin de la Création " ( musical event promoting creative talent ) Annecy, France.

With Christophe Nemoz-rajot he founds in 1990 the jazz-rock and latin band " Quasimodal ", based on Christophe's original compositions. During this collaboration he gets involved into the arranging of compositions, using computer programs. They record a CD in 1998. This CD, " Melting-Pot " will be mixed and cut in 2000, in memory of Christophe Nemoz-Rajot who passed away October 15, 1999.

In 1993, he founds the blues band " Catfish Blues Band " with guitar player Thierry Lucotte. They perform successfully in numerous places in Switzerland and France, during two years.

Since 1996 he is the sideman of singer Gaël with whom he performed in the Swiss television show " Bus et Compagnie ", March 1997. They record a CD named " Gaël " in 1998.

In 2000 he founds the band BLUES BLEND with Claudia Urio and they start playing in different clubs and festivals in Geneva, Switzerland and France.

In March 2001, he records with Blues Blend their first CD.

In the Fall of 2002, Pierre-Luc Pahud replaces Ivo on bass, and later on Marc Polliand replaces Georges Boixader on guitar.

Summer 2003, the " new crew " records Blues Blend second CD.

Since 1992, Ismaël teaches drums in Switzerland and in France.
